UFPA – Federal University of Pará
As a multi-campus institution , UFPA has contributed to the development of all the mesoregions of the state of Pará and gave rise to three new federal universities, through the separation of its campuses in Santarém (Federal University of Western Pará), Marabá (Federal University of Southern and Southeastern Pará) and Macapá (Federal University of Amapá), in addition to having contributed to the formation of the Federal University of Rondônia. Currently, there are twelve campuses , installed in Abaetetuba, Altamira, Ananindeua, Belém, Bragança, Breves, Cametá, Capanema, Castanhal, Salinópolis, Soure and Tucuruí.
With a staff of 2,997 teachers and 2,458 technicians, UFPA offers 154 undergraduate courses (in-person or distance learning) in 82 municipalities in Pará. It has a population of over 50,000 undergraduate, graduate, and basic, technical, and technological education students. It houses the Application School, the Music School, and the Theater and Dance School, as well as 2 University Hospitals, a veterinary hospital, several clinics and laboratories, a Theater, a Museum, an Art Gallery, and numerous community service facilities.
Through outreach, it interacts with a range of organizations and social groups, directly contributing to the transformation of the social reality of the Amazon, based on the knowledge produced in its environments. The stricto sensu postgraduate program, which began in 1973 with the creation of the Master’s and Doctorate Course in Geophysics, currently offers 55 doctorate courses and 100 master’s courses, with great national and international recognition. In the lato sensu , UFPA offers 28 Medical Residency courses, Multiprofessional or Single-professional, in addition to Specialization courses. These courses serve a contingent of approximately 10 thousand students.
