About the call

BRACIS 2026 is launching a call for financial support aimed at expanding and strengthening the participation of women in scientific and technological research. The initiative seeks to encourage women’s leadership in the production and presentation of scientific work, contributing to greater participation of women as authors and presenters at the conference. Financial support of up to R$ 2,000.00 will be provided to cover travel, accommodation and/or registration for BRACIS 2026 — October 19–22, 2026, in Cuiabá, MT.

Undergraduate and graduate students with active enrolment, as well as early-career researchers who obtained their master’s or doctoral degree within the past three years, are eligible to apply. Applications are open from September 22 to 29, 2026, and the selection considers, among other criteria, authorship and presentation of papers accepted at BRACIS 2026 and the region where the applicant’s institution is located. The results will be announced on October 1, 2026.

Who can apply

Women affiliated with a teaching or research institution, in one of the following categories:

Undergraduate students

Enrolled in an undergraduate programme, with active registration at the time of application.

Graduate students

Enrolled in a master’s or doctoral programme, with active registration at the time of application.

Early-career researchers

Researchers who obtained a master’s or doctoral degree no more than three years before the application deadline.

The grant

  • Each selected researcher receives a fixed amount of R$ 2,000.00, to be used for travel, accommodation and/or registration, as she sees fit.
  • Applicants living in Cuiabá and Várzea Grande receive an amount equivalent to the BRACIS 2026 registration fee in their category.
  • No proof of expenses is required. The grant is formalised through an SBC receipt and a commitment term for attending the conference, both signed by the recipient.
  • The grant cannot be combined with another form of support covering the same expense.
  • Payment is made after the receipt and the commitment term are signed, in the form and within the deadline informed by the organisation.

Number of grants

Grants are awarded according to the budget available to the BRACIS 2026 organisation, each one worth up to R$ 2,000.00. Any remaining balance may be redistributed between categories and used for applicants on the waiting list.

How to apply

  1. Fill in the application form

    The whole application lives in a single electronic form. Incomplete forms are not eligible.

  2. Submit by September 29, 2026

    Applications are open from September 22 to September 29, 2026. Submission time is also the last tie-breaker, so do not leave it to the final hours.

  3. Declare and commit

    By submitting the form you declare that you have read this call, that the information given is true and that, if selected, you will sign the receipt and the commitment term and attend the conference in person.

Selection criteria

Only applicants who meet the eligibility categories above and complete the whole form are considered. If there are more eligible applicants than grants, they are ranked separately within each category and split into two groups:

Group 1

Applicants who are authors of a paper accepted at BRACIS 2026. Grants go to this group first, by score.

Group 2

Applicants without an accepted paper. They are only awarded if grants remain after every eligible applicant of Group 1 in that category has been served.

Scoring

  • 5 pts Applicant is one of the authors of an accepted paper Group 1
  • 4 pts Applicant will present the paper Group 1
  • 3 pts Institution located in the North, Northeast or Central-West regions Groups 1 and 2

Authorship and presenter data are checked against the official list of accepted papers.

Tie-breakers

In case of a tie within a group, the following are applied in order:

  1. Applicant is the first author of the paper.
  2. Applicant is affiliated with an institution in the North, Northeast or Central-West regions.
  3. Date and time the form was submitted.

Results and acceptance

  • Results are announced on October 1, 2026.
  • Besides the selected applicants, a waiting list may be formed, used in case of withdrawal, inability to use the grant or remaining budget.
  • Selected applicants have 2 calendar days after the announcement to confirm acceptance and send the data needed for payment (full name, CPF and bank details), through the commitment term available at this link. Otherwise, the grant is offered to the next applicant on the list.

Obligations

Researchers awarded a grant must:

  • Sign the SBC receipt for the grant and the commitment term for attending the conference.
  • Register for the conference within the deadlines announced by the organisation.
  • Attend the conference in person — attendance is verified through on-site check-in.
  • Present the paper, when that condition was used in the selection.
  • Report any withdrawal immediately and return the full amount received. The same applies if you do not attend the conference, except in cases of force majeure accepted by the organisation.
  • Provide basic information after the conference for the outcome report of this initiative.

False statements lead to disqualification and the return of any amount received. Cases not covered by this call are decided by the BRACIS 2026 organisation.
